Compared with the conventional three-cylinder mud pump, the theoretical displacement and pressure fluctuation of a five-cylinder mud pump is only about one-third of that of a three-cylinder mud pump without any air bag. In addition, the 3000-horsepower five-cylinder mud pump unit adopts a modular, skid-mounted design concept that can be moved or transported as a whole or in parts. This structural layout minimizes the floor space and space occupied by the entire pump set, and is particularly suitable for applications such as offshore drilling platforms where the volume and weight requirements of the equipment are high.
