However, with the promotion of new energy vehicles, especially electric vehicles, will the traditional internal-combustion engine enterprises be affected and become “dim”? Wei Anli, deputy secretary-general of the China Internal Combustion Engine Industry Association, believes: “No.”

“Whether it is a traditional car or a new energy vehicle that is now being widely discussed, 'burning' is ultimately energy, but the structure of the energy used has changed.” Wei Anli told reporters, “The reason why people feel that new energy vehicles are The traditional internal combustion engine has nothing to do with it because our understanding of the term 'new energy' is not profound enough."

According to the general statement, gasoline and diesel are the energy sources of traditional internal combustion engine cars. Vehicles that use other energy sources to provide power can be called new energy vehicles. New energy sources currently under development include natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, alcohols, dimethyl ether, hydrogen, synthetic fuels, biogas, air, and electric charge fuel cells.

In fact, a large part of the new energy we usually refer to is the addition of other fuels to gasoline or diesel fuel, and new energy vehicles are also cars driven by this fuel. "Regardless of how the form of the fuel is changed, as long as it is the driving force of combustible energy, it requires the transformation of the internal combustion engine." Wei Anli said, "As an internal combustion engine, energy is converted into high-pressure and high-temperature energy, and then driving the rotation of the connecting rod converts potential energy into kinetic energy. ."

In the interview, Wei Anli told reporters that Shi Shaoxi, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in China’s only internal combustion engine discipline, once told him that so far, humans have not yet found a mobile power product with a higher thermal efficiency than the internal combustion engine.
